## Description

At 58,650 square metres and floating on a water-ringed platform, Semarang's terminal was Indonesia's first of its kind when it opened in 2018. Jenderal Achmad Yani (IATA: SRG, ICAO: WAHS) handled 18,811 tonnes of cargo in 2024, up 33.3 percent year on year — modest tonnage for the Central Java capital, but a clear upward trend. The airport lost its international designation by ministerial decree in April 2024 and regained it in April 2025, restoring on-site customs clearance for cross-border shipments. Freight moves almost entirely as belly load beneath passenger cabins operated by Super Air Jet, Lion Air and Batik Air; dedicated freighter services are not confirmed. The adjacent Tanjung Emas seaport puts ocean and air options within the same city, which helps when a consignment can switch modes at short notice. For larger volumes, Central Java's forwarders still rely on the Jakarta (CGK) and Surabaya (SUB) hubs, both reachable by truck along the Trans-Java toll road.
