## Description

Around 62 departures a month, all of them domestic, define the rhythm of Abu Simbel Airport (ABS/HEBL) in Egypt's far south. EgyptAir and Air Cairo run the short hop to Aswan, Air Cairo also links Luxor and Giza, and a direct Cairo service was added in May 2026 — making ABS essentially a tourism feeder for visitors to the Ramses II temples. The airport has no dedicated freight terminal, and what little cargo moves does so as belly load on passenger aircraft. Freight forwarders handling shipments from Upper Egypt route them through Cairo International (CAI), the country's only genuine air-cargo gateway with freighters, bonded warehousing and full customs clearance. By road it is roughly 280 km from Abu Simbel to Aswan, from where consignments continue by truck or feeder flight. For logistics professionals, ABS is best treated as a passenger point rather than a shipping origin.
