## Description

Tourist jets dominate the aprons at Terminal 3, opened in 2021 for around 1.5 million international passengers a year — and most of Zanzibar's air freight rides in their holds. Cloves, fresh fish and seaweed make up the bulk of the outbound cargo from Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ). Ground handling has been in dnata's hands since 2022; Astral Aviation operates a scheduled freighter service to Nairobi (NBO), and Ethiopian Cargo maintains a station on the island. Heavy and intercontinental consignments are usually consolidated at Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam, about 70 kilometres away, which offers far larger cargo facilities.
