# Uganda Airlines Cargo (IATA UR · ICAO UGD · AWB 109)

> Uganda Airlines Cargo is the freight arm of Uganda's state-owned Uganda National Airlines Company Limited, operating under IATA designator UR and AWB prefix 109. The company is owned by the Republic of Uganda and operates no freighters of its own. It sells belly capacity only, on a passenger fleet of Airbus A330-800neo and Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft out of its Entebbe hub. For forwarders the carrier matters mainly for temperature-controlled exports out of Entebbe, such as Nile perch, cut flowers and vegetables to Europe, the Gulf and India. Consignment size and the CRJ900 door dimensions do, however, limit what moves on regional sectors.

## Overview

Uganda Airlines Cargo is the freight arm of Uganda National Airlines Company Limited (UNACL), Uganda's state-owned flag carrier based at Entebbe International Airport (EBB). The company is owned by the Republic of Uganda and trades as Uganda Airlines; its cargo business runs under its own domain, ur-cargo.com.

Operating model: Uganda Airlines Cargo has no freighter aircraft of its own. All capacity comes from the lower holds of the passenger fleet, which according to the carrier (as of September 2026) consists of Airbus A330-800neo aircraft on long-haul routes and Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft on regional services. The carrier states usable door dimensions of 228 x 163 cm on the A330-800 and 75 x 90 cm on the CRJ900, and gives 100 to 150 kg as the usual guideline for a single consignment.

Network: Entebbe is the hub, with cargo handling located in the Cargo Village. From there Uganda Airlines serves around twenty destinations in East, West and Southern Africa as well as the Gulf, India and Europe, among them Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Kigali, Juba, Mogadishu, Johannesburg, Lagos, Dubai, Mumbai and London Gatwick. Interline cooperations exist with Air India via Mumbai and with Airlink via Johannesburg.

Codes and documents: the IATA designator is UR, the ICAO code UGD; air waybills use AWB prefix 109. Shipment tracking runs via ur-cargo.com.

For forwarders: the focus is East African export freight out of Entebbe, in particular Nile perch, cut flowers and fresh vegetables. The carrier publishes its own temperature ranges (15 to 25 C, 2 to 8 C, 2 to 25 C and minus 18 C or below) and accepts dangerous goods under the IATA DGR, live animals under the IATA LAR and CITES, as well as human remains, pharmaceuticals, valuables and mail. The company does not supply packaging material.
