# Royal Jordanian Cargo (IATA RJ · ICAO RJA · AWB 512)

> Royal Jordanian Cargo is the freight division of the Jordanian airline Alia - The Royal Jordanian Airlines PLC, with IATA designator RJ and AWB prefix 512. The division holds no air operator certificate of its own; Royal Jordanian is the operator. It markets belly cargo on the passenger fleet plus one Airbus A321-200P2F from Queen Alia International Airport in Amman. For shipments into the Levant, Iraq and the Gulf states, Amman offers a short transhipment leg with cold-chain, dangerous-goods and valuables areas in the carrier's own cargo centre. Air waybills run under prefix 512; booking and eAWB go through the carrier's CHAMP portal.

## Overview

Royal Jordanian Cargo is the freight division of Jordan's state-owned carrier Alia - The Royal Jordanian Airlines PLC, which trades as Royal Jordanian and was established by royal decree on 15 December 1963. The division holds no air operator certificate of its own; all flights are operated by Royal Jordanian itself. The parent company's codes therefore apply: IATA designator RJ, ICAO code RJA and AWB prefix 512.

The operating model combines belly capacity with a single freighter. Lower-deck capacity is marketed on a passenger fleet of Airbus A320neo, A321neo and A320, Boeing 787-8 and 787-9, and Embraer E190-E2 and E195-E2 aircraft. In addition, Royal Jordanian took delivery of an Airbus A321-200P2F on 21 March 2024, replacing a previously operated A310-300F (as of March 2024). The aircraft offers fourteen main-deck positions for 88 x 125 inch containers and pallets and, according to the carrier, a payload of roughly 25 to 26 tonnes. A second aircraft of the same type has been announced for July 2027.

The hub is Queen Alia International Airport in Amman (AMM). Its cargo centre provides more than 17,000 square metres of import and export warehousing, 360 aircraft pallet positions, a tracking system covering 7,400 Euro pallet positions, cold storage from +2 to +8 degrees Celsius, deep-freeze storage at -20 degrees Celsius, and segregated areas for dangerous goods, radioactive materials, valuables, live animals and human remains. Royal Jordanian is investing JOD 30 million in its expansion.

The published freighter schedule serves Maastricht, Larnaca, Istanbul and Cairo from Amman; the carrier states a total cargo network of 56 destinations. In the first half of 2026 Royal Jordanian carried 21,460 tonnes of cargo, 36 per cent more than in the same period of the previous year. For forwarders, eAWB access via CHAMP and shipment tracking under prefix 512 are the relevant entry points.
