## Overview

Gulf Air Cargo is the freight arm of Gulf Air B.S.C. (c), the state-owned national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, marketed under the Falcon Cargo brand. There is no separate cargo company behind it: the air operator certificate, the traffic rights and the air waybill all sit with the passenger airline itself. The sole shareholder is Gulf Air Group Holding Company, founded in 2010 to consolidate the aviation assets of Bahrain's sovereign wealth fund, Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company; the group also owns Bahrain Airport Company and Gulf Aviation Academy.

The operating model is pure belly cargo. Gulf Air runs no dedicated freighters; capacity comes from the lower decks of its passenger fleet, which consists of Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft on short and medium-haul routes and Boeing 787-9 aircraft on long-haul services. Frachtportal deliberately records no unit counts, because no dated fleet listing from a primary source is available.

The hub is Bahrain International Airport (BAH); the company is registered in Muharraq. Through Bahrain, Gulf Air links the Gulf and the Middle East with Europe, the Indian subcontinent and the Far East, with transfer cargo handled around the clock. The airport itself offers a cargo terminal with cool rooms, areas for live animals, dangerous goods and radioactive shipments, and separate zones for valuables, diplomatic cargo and airmail.

For forwarders the relevant codes are IATA GF, ICAO GFA and AWB prefix 072. Booking, air waybill and shipment tracking run on the Cargospot environment of CHAMP Cargosystems; AWB tracking is openly accessible and pre-set to prefix 072. In several markets cargo sales are handled by general sales agents.
