## Overview

FedEx Express is the brand name of Federal Express Corporation, a subsidiary of the listed FedEx Corporation (NYSE: FDX), headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee. The company holds its own air carrier certificate under 14 CFR Part 121; oversight is provided by a dedicated Certificate Management Office of the US aviation authority FAA in Memphis. FedEx Express is therefore not merely a sales brand but the operating air carrier itself.

The company traces back to Federal Express, founded in 1971; flight operations began on 17 April 1973 in Memphis. On 1 June 2024 FedEx Ground and FedEx Corporate Services were merged into Federal Express Corporation. Since 1 June 2026 the group reports in two segments, Express U.S. Domestic and Express International, referred to collectively as Federal Express.

As of 31 May 2026 the fleet comprised 700 aircraft; more than 650 airports and over 220 countries and territories are served. The central hub is the World Hub in Memphis, with a second national air hub in Indianapolis. Regional air hubs are located in Fort Worth, Newark and Oakland, with further sorting operations at the airports of Chicago, Los Angeles and Atlanta. The principal European hub is Paris Charles de Gaulle.
